Started CrossFitting:

August 2009

Athletic background/highlights:

I have played soccer and volleyball competitively for a number of years. I played soccer for the Newfoundland and Labrador Women’s team for two years traveling abroad to compete. I also played for the Newfoundland and Labrador Women’s Volleyball Team that went to Canada Games in 1992. I was fortunate enough to get a scholarship to attend St. Francis Xavier University after graduating high school in 1992. I played women’s volleyball there for 3 years and also received MVP for the team in 1993. I then went on to finish my last year of eligibility at Malaspina College (now known as Vancouver Island University) and was named player of the game in our Bronze medal game at the CCAA National Championships in 2002. I then picked up playing beach volleyball for the Cayman Islands after moving here 8 years ago and have traveled to Rhodes, Greece to represent the Cayman Islands in the Natwest Island Games in 2007 and played indoor volleyball at the Natwest Island Games in Aland, Finland in 2009. In 2010 I was a part of the CrossFit Cayman team represented the Latin American Region and competed in the CrossFit Games in Carson, LA.

What is your favourite part of being in CrossFit:

I love it when people see results no matter how big or small. Seeing people happy and feeling proud of their accomplishments is what it’s all about.

What attracted you to CrossFit:

I was attracted because I am a competitive person. My husband introduced it to me (although it took awhile to convince me!) and I have been hooked ever since! I love the friendly competition as well as the constantly varied workouts. Keeps things interesting.

Favourite WOD:

Grace, Fran, anything short and sweet!

Least favourite WOD:

Eva, Murph, anything long and painful!
