As a Registered Massage Therapist and long-time Yoga practitioner, I have always been interested in promoting and cultivating people’s health and general well-being. After years of trying (and abandoning) several fitness programs in an attempt to support my snowboarding passion I stumbled on CrossFit in 2009 and the rest as they say is history. Within two years I had obtained my CrossFit Level 1 and Endurance training certifications and become part owner of CrossFit 7 Mile.
While the benefits that come from better overall physical conditioning were something I was familiar with you would never confuse me with a dedicated gym person or competitive athlete. My background in team sports was limited to a few random years of youth tee-ball and soccer as my parents tried to find my niche. These clearly weren’t a fit and eventually I found I much preferred individual pursuits like hiking, snowboarding and just being outdoors. Throughout the search for my complimentary workout regime there was always something, motivation, variety or practicality that prevented me from fully committing. When I found CrossFit all those excuses disappeared and I was hooked.
Whether it was the first time I achieved an unassisted pull-up or later managed 100 in a single workout CrossFit has brought an excitement and enthusiasm to my fitness practice. I never imagined it would have me trying out skills while on vacation in the ruins of Pompeii just for a good photo op! The level of support, community and sense of accomplishment that CrossFit fosters are keys that keep me looking forward to the next WOD and motivates me to assist all CrossFit 7 Mile members achieve their own personal goals whatever those may be.
